Pergola LED Lights and HeatersUpdated 22 minutes ago

Having an issue with your pergola lights? This article covers the most common lighting problems and exactly what to try in each case. Most issues can be resolved without a call-out — work through the steps below before getting in touch.

Which models have LED lights?

LED lights are included on the PergoSTET Plus, PergoSTET Deluxe, and PergoSTET Pro only. The Lite and Lite Neo do not include LED lighting, and this cannot be added afterwards.

PergoSTET ProPerimeter LED stripRGBw (multi-colour)IR remoteCR2025

Please note: The Harbour Lifestyle app controls the louvre and lights on the PergoSTET Deluxe only. It does not work with the Plus, Pro, or any other model. However the app is compatible with the PegoSTET Heater which can be installed on all pergolas.

Before you start — check the basics

Before working through the troubleshooting steps below, please check all of the following:

  • All wiring is firmly connected, including all LED strip connectors. Check each connection point and reseat any that feel loose.
  • There are no exposed wires anywhere on the installation.
  • All connections and sockets are dry.

Step 1 — Check the power supply

  1. Unplug your pergola lights from the wall socket.
  2. Plug in a desk or table lamp that you know is working:
    • If the lamp does not come on: check whether the fuse at your electricity consumer unit (fuse box) has tripped. If the fuse has not tripped, the circuit or socket itself may be faulty — do not use it and contact a qualified electrician.
    • If the lamp works: unplug it and plug your pergola lights back in, ensuring all connections are firmly secured and dry.
  3. Ensure the input and output electrical recommendations on the transformer are followed.

Important: Also check the plug fuse. A blown fuse is a common and easily overlooked cause of lights not coming on at all. Always replace like for like, following the safety recommendations on the packaging.

Step 2 — Check the remote control

Check the battery is working

Press any button on the remote. You should see a small indicator light when you do this.

  • PergoSTET Plus / Pro (IR remote): Point your smartphone camera at the front of the remote and press a button. If the remote is working, you will see a light appear on your screen through the camera — the infrared signal is invisible to the naked eye but visible through a camera. If you see no light, the battery needs replacing.
  • PergoSTET Deluxe (RF remote): The RF remote does not emit a visible signal, so the smartphone camera test does not apply. If the remote appears unresponsive, replace the battery before trying anything else.

Replacing the battery

Replace with the correct battery type for your model — see the table above. Always replace like for like. Using the wrong battery type may damage the remote. Follow the safety recommendations on the battery packaging.

Step 3 — Re-sync the remote (pairing)

If the lights are not responding to the remote after checking the battery and power supply, re-sync using the steps below for your model.

PergoSTET Plus / Pro

  1. Turn the mains power off at the wall socket.
  2. Leave the power off for at least 10 seconds.
  3. Turn the mains power back on.
  4. Within 10 seconds of turning the power back on, hold down the blue and pink buttons simultaneously on the remote.
  5. The LED strip will flash for three seconds — this confirms a successful pairing.

PergoSTET Deluxe

Coming soon — full pairing steps for the Deluxe RF remote will be added here shortly. Please contact us in the meantime if you need assistance.

Upgrading from an IR to an RF remote? If you have replaced your IR remote with an RF remote, you will need to re-pair the IR remote as part of the upgrade process before the RF remote will work correctly.

Step 4 — Identify the specific fault

If the steps above have not resolved the issue, identify which of the following matches your situation.

The lights are not coming on at all, or are stuck on one colour

Try re-syncing the lights following the pairing steps in Step 3 above.

If re-syncing still does not work, disconnect all cables from the RGB controller (the small black box) and open the cover. Take a photograph of the inside and send it to us via the Fault Report Form so our team can assess.

One LED strip is on but a different colour to the others

Remove the LED strips and swap their positions — swap them one at a time rather than all at once. This helps identify which strip or which port on the controller is causing the issue.

One LED strip is showing two different colours along its length

This indicates the strip itself is faulty. Please contact us and we will arrange a replacement strip.

Pergola heater remote

The pergola heater uses a separate IR remote control with a CR2025 battery — the same battery type as the PergoSTET Plus light remote, but a different remote unit.

If your heater remote is unresponsive:

  • Replace the CR2025 battery first — this is the most common cause.
  • To check the remote is working, point your smartphone camera at the front and press a button. You should see a light appear on your screen through the camera. If you see no light, the battery needs replacing.
  • The heater remote requires line of sight to the receiver — ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the heater unit.

Please note: The heater can only be installed during assembly on the PergoSTET Deluxe and cannot be added afterwards. On the Plus, Lite, and Lite Neo models the heater can be added at any time. If you need help with heater installation or have a fault with the heater itself, please use our Fault Report Form.

Warranty

All pergola LED lights are covered against manufacturing defects for 12 months from the date of delivery.

The warranty does not cover:

  • Damage caused by water ingress due to improper installation.
  • Damage caused by use of incorrect replacement parts (e.g. wrong battery type).
  • Accidental damage or misuse.

Please note: Within 30 days of delivery you have the right to reject a faulty item for a full refund. After 30 days, we will look to repair or replace first — see our Returns & Refunds Policy for full details.

Still not resolved?

If you have worked through all the steps above and the issue remains, please use our Fault Report Form. Include as much detail as possible — photographs and a short video are particularly helpful for lighting issues as they help our team diagnose the fault quickly.
